Concept

What is causal intelligence?

Correlation tells you what moved together. Causal intelligence tells you what happens if — the difference between a guess and a reason your agent can defend.

The distinction

Two ways to read the same world.

Correlation
What moved together

Patterns in history. Useful — until the world changes, and the world is always changing. Correlations break exactly when the stakes are highest: a new regime, an intervention, a shock. The moment you most need the answer is the moment it stops holding.

Causation
What happens if

A model of cause and effect. It answers counterfactuals — what an export-control headline does to GPU supply, and what that does to your position — and it holds when the regime shifts, because it encodes why, not just what.

Why it matters

Agents don’t predict. They act.

Every action is a bet on a counterfactual. To act well, an agent has to reason about what its choice causes — not what merely correlated last year. A causal forecast is the difference between automation you can hand a decision and automation you can’t.
